It works - kind of
I'll preface this by describing my setup, that way hopefully this will help you decide on whether this cable will be suitable for what you want to use it for. In my case I was looking for an extension cable for my gaming headset so that I could sit further from the TV while using it. On the TV output side are separate 3.5 mm connections for headphone and mic. These are then combined into one with a splitter, as my headset has the 4-pole TRRS 3.5 mm jack. I bought this cable with the intention of extending the length by adding in a section of single cable between the splitter at the TV side and the jack on my headset side. On the plus side, the cable transfers the audio just fine, and I didn't notice any quality issues there. Unfortunately however, with this extension cable in place, the microphone signal and sound signal interfere with each other, resulting in others hearing an echo when using voice chat. After doing some Googling it appears this is an inherent problem in many of these type of combined cables over a certain length. Happily for me there was an easy enough work around - I simply bought another 3.5 mm extension cable and instead of combining the two cables at the TV end, I now run the two cables across the room and combine them at the headset side. This has successfully eliminated the echo. A couple of twist ties keep them from getting cluttered. I have given two stars as the cable still works well with this setup, however it didn't work as originally intended. Hopefully this helps if you have a similar setup!
