Wow am i thrilled they made this!
I was intrigued when i saw "everlasting" pencils in the past when i have seen them but i never really write on paper. However i have been doing a lot of carpentry lately and never happy with the marking options.
Lucky for me i didn't see the recommendation of not using for wood until after i bought and tried it.
They are concerned the tip can break off from striking a rough grain etc it's very pointy and hard but brittle.
I've been doing experiments and on occasion it will make almost no mark at all. Side of a 1x3 pine for example, but on primed pine looks like a pen! With the grain on sanded plywood just made a dent but cross grain, worked perfectly.
On paper it's great, lighter than N° 2 of course but looks like normal pencil. I actually have decided I'm going to get a stretch book and start using for sketching ideas. There's a quality to writing by hand that doesn't translate to mouse and keyboard.
