I replaced a 10 year old unit with the new transmitter. The replacement process was straightforward, and the console picked up the new transmitter instantly. The only negative is that the new unit does not have as strong a signal as the previous unit. The decline remained even after the console made its noise filtering adjustments. However, the decline in signal is not affecting the station's data quality.
