Great Hat, size consistency ?

I love this hat and receive many complements however, size consistency sometimes baffles me. This size large appears to be extra large and was somewhat difficult to make the adjustments necessary to wear properly. The adjustable sweat band just didn't adjust well and left a void across the back, inside. I finally inserted adhesive fillers so it fits great.
