This is a great size for tying the smallest of flies and for tying with low bulk on larger flies. It is the ideal choice for dry flies, nymphs, and midges size 14 or smaller. UTC lays very flat.

For smaller delicate dry flies UTC Ultra 70 is my go to thread

Because UTC Ultra 70 lies flat, much like floss, it does not build up much bulk quickly. This is a considerable advantage when tying up midges, mayfly duns, tricos, and pretty much anything tiny and gossamer. It is my go-to thread daily. ~Clint B.
