Not sure about the effective gape on these. The curved point combined with the jigged eye means there doesn't seem to be much of a gap to set the hook at the take. Sure enough, 1st time I used them, I hit one out of the first four takes. Tweaked the bend in a pair of forceps to offset it a bit and that improved matters significantly.
