Works and doesn't

I purchased the Level 2 charger with the included outlet thinking that I would be able to just swap out chargers in the future. This is not the case. The first problem is that the outlet packaged with the charger, while it is a NEMA weatherproof and ETL certified outlet, is not certified for an EV. As such, many electricians will not install it since it is not up to code. One thing to pay special attention to, unless you already have a 240V outlet installed, you WILL have to run a new wire since the NEMA outlet requires 2 hots, a neutral and a ground for correct installation, while a direct hardwire does not. The 3 stars is because the item description is correct, the charger works well and the outlet will work as an outlet and has a lock, but the outlet is not appropriate for the continuous high current of an EV charger and electricians will not install it for that use.

A great no frills solid charger

Very solid. Aluminum case. Single board construction. Easy to adjust maximum output to match circuit size. Best value in a quality EVSE. Note that while it is fitted with a 14-50 plug, it does not need a neutral. I use a 6-30 250V 30A outlet with a adapter, and it works great.
