Extreme Skin is a winner in Lapland
Not being a natural ski guru but an amateur for sure I have adapted these skins with the full size ( length ) skin as a combo to give the best ( for me ) of all worlds anyway. Hopefully this helps you consider this method ( bad idea it may well be but it works for me ). The skins work well, have lasted 300km so far and wirh DWR costing now and again have stayed usable I think they will be fine for another year or more at least. Pulling a pulk of maybe 75KG and 10 days supplies over terrain much like the north Pennines where I live but covered in snow has worked well, breaking trail as well as on hard skidoo tracks alike. Very little slip if any on hard steep inclines and when traversing when it’s just too steep to go straight then got the assurance it’s as easy as the flat. I have combined a cut down extreme full length skin to allow the central skin to remain in place always and the front part to be added when needed. This leaves a length of skin to be used to replace the central piece of course when it’s warn out. Picture paints 1000 words. See Pic. This may be rubbish but it works for me on any hill I should be able to climb and means no need to take off the central kick/grip section of skin ( it just stays on skin always ) a bit of extra glue on the tail end helps. As I say this may be rubbish information for pro ski gurus but it’s simple and works for me so far anyway ( 42 days into my trip ). I am happy with this way to travel with a pulk on ski on any terrain.
