Louie Armstrong - Satchmo plays King Oliver

Great Record, wonderful tape transfer

I have the original record from Audio Fidelity, the Stereo version pressed in 1960 and that is by far the best version I have come across all these years. The CDs I have bought do not hold a candle to the original record in terms of clarity and imaging. The CD that come closest is "The complete SATCHMO PLAYS KING OLIVER" of the American Jazz Classics, released in 2022. This last CD is bestter than other CDs, yet not as good as the original record. However it is worth buying because it contains a lot of extra tracks and alternate versions, that I find also better than the official takes. And now to this HDTT edition. I have bought the DSD 128 and I can say that it is the best versions of all. It is as good as the original Audio Fidelity record, minus the clicks and pops. Wonderful piece of work! If you love this record get the original Audio Fidelity, the CD mentioned above AND this HDTT edition.

Great album, remastering and sound quality!

Waited for years for the scheduled SACD, which appears to never have come to fruition, so I was glad this has become available. Great album, remastering and sound quality!

Great recording of great music!

Louie Armstrong is a master of jazz and blues. This recording brings out all the nuances of his playing and sounds great. It doesn't hurt the he is covering the works of King Oliver. St. James Infirmary - need I say more. Highly recommended.
