I bought two of these kits to give as Christmas presents to a couple of outdoorsy guys I know. I'm pretty sure they are going to love them. They are compact and light and contain everything you need to get a fire started. The flint and striker are bound together by a braided cord that helps you hold on to them and they give off a shower of sparks when you hit them together. There is a bundle of dried wood shavings and a little resealable tin containing cotton pellets impregnated with oil which ignite readily when a spark lands on them. You only need to use a little bit of each pellet per fire as you pluck a small amount off the pellet and tweak it out into a little fluffy ball to catch your sparks. These kits have everything you need to get fired up really quickly. Everything comes packed in a tough, ziptop, waterproof plastic bag and it's so light and compact you'll never notice it's even in your pack until you need it.
