Calypso - Smart Water Heater Controller V2

Great item!

It was simple to install and really easy to setup in the app. I like that I can then the water heater off in the app when I go on vacation as well as turn it back on for my return.

Don't see much benefit, missing temperature history

In terms of savings, it doesn't make much sense for me. My water heater was originally set to 52C (which reads about 49.5C on the calypse sensor). But the minimum control temp for Calypso is 48C (can't be changed because of Hilo), which means I only have about 1.5C margin when I turn off the water heater with Calypso. This will not help me during the Hilo peak challenges. I would need to increase the thermostat temp to 60C at least to have a benefit. Which means I will have to pay more during the rest of the year compared to now (52C). My other comment is that I would like to see my water heater temperature history (also downloadable) in the app, currently we can only see the current temperature so I cannot analyse the behavior of the system.

Great product for more control of your dumb hot water tank

Awesome that you can create schedules for your electric hot water tank. Would be great if a few more features could be added to the app, like temp control (ie turn tank on at 50c and off at 60c). Also would be nice to link to solar output and only run during times of excess solar production. Also ability to have multiple schedules and be able to quickly switch. for example have a home and holiday schedule. Here's hoping to new features being added, but still would recommend to anyone with a electric hot water tank and with bchydro rebate it's a no brainer.
