6R80 V6 Style Adapter Plate

I'm really glad this V6 adapter plate was an available option as I found a low mileage 6R80 transmission that I liked which had the V6 style bellhousing. Everything with the plate, transmission, and engine mated up well. I'm giving it 4/5 stars because at the time of purchase it was still in a trial state and missing some items which I was aware of but still should be addressed at some point. Here's a few extra things that I had to do to complete the build: - There was no inspection cover plate designed or made for this kit which I was aware of. - Some hardware/bolts weren't correct between the transmission and plate. I had to get some more. - There are no dowel pins included in the kit (and my transmission didn't come with any), so I had to track some down at the Ford dealers in my area. Surprisingly, not every Ford parts dealer has these in stock. - I had to grind down some material off the transmission in order to get the starter to align properly with the available starter bolt hole locations. - The bolts that attach the starter to the adapter plate are small with a tight tolerance on the adapter plate holes, so ensure that the starter and plate holes are lined up and flush to each other when trying to tighten down the starter. i.e. You may need to grind down some material on your transmission to get the starter to mate properly with the plate. I would definitely give this kit a 5-start considering that an inspection plate could be designed and included with the kit. A bonus would be the inclusion of dowel pins. I think they would be relatively easy and inexpensive to custom build and include with the kit. The Ford dealers are not going to carry them forever, and it's not guaranteed that they will be with the transmission when purchased.

This adapter kit is a great product! The machining of the adapter and crank spacer is really high quality and it bolted up perfectly. The starter clears longtube headers easily with multiple positions to put it in. The adapter sets the transmission in a perfect spot relative to the engine. Obviously, the centerline is true, but the 10R80 pan sits right about the same height of the collectors on my longtube headers. Makes it for an easier install into an older car like my ‘79 Ranchero GT. Performance Adapters was great to work with when I ran into some trouble. Josh was very helpful over the phone and we got my torque converter spacing figured out with a thinner crank spacer. Everything bolts up nicely and looks great! ‘70 460 BBF and 24’ Mustang GT 10R80.
