American Chestnut 6.4L Barrel *EXPERIMENTAL*

Cannot wait to fill this beautiful barrel !!! This is my first badmo barrel and I am excited to see what flavors come out of it. I used some of the chestnut staves on a whiskey about 5 months ago and the flavor from those are incredible. I will be filling this barrel over the weekend with a mixed blue corn mash bill using Amish blue popcorn and blue clerage heirloom corn.

It took around two weeks of soaking to get the chestnut barrel sealed up. Now I wait to see what comes out of it.

Chestnut Barrel

This barrel arrived without any issue. Same as they all have. The Chestnut smelled delicious. I couldn't tell if that was from the toasting and charring or from the wood. Either way, it was nice. I put a 118 proof apple brandy into it after prepping it as recommended. It sealed up without any issues. Time will tell. So far, so good!
