The people at Musky Fools are great and provide outstanding service. The Hareline bucktails appeared clean, the length of hair varies from less than 3inches for one a couple in the 3-4 inch range, one was uniformly 4 inches and one measured 4 1/2 to 5 inches. I purchased these anticipating hair that would be shorter than the tails I got from Musky Fools so I could save the better tails for bigger flies. So I am satisfied with this product despite the variance in length of hair
