I am always looking for more thoughtful, eco-conscious packaging and aluminum free formulas, but the other deoderants in this category are usually lacking in effectivness. This one works for me and my husband, and we love the scent!

My favorite deodorants

I first came across Akt deodorants in a beauty bundle I’d purchased. I’ve tried several natural deodorants and never been a fan as body odor always broke through, especially as a woman approaching perimenopause and living in Houston, TX. Akt was different - not only did it not leave my underarms sticky and stinky, but it lasted longer than even regular deodorant, including through hot yoga sessions. After the first tube, I purchased a package set (wish they’d bring that back) of the full sizes and have been hooked ever since. My favorites are After Thunder, Halcyon Summer and The Onsen (in that order) - although to be clear, I love Orange Grove and Columbia Road, too. I probably use more than I should at a time and yet, a tube lasts me about 2 months. I do have The Assistant to roll the tube and that makes life much easier, and toward the end, I cut the tube to get the bit of residual product (there’s ways quite a bit more than you’d expect), and I appreciate that they’re recyclable. My gripes, if I have to come up with them, the deodorant is not an anti-perspirant, the tubes don’t always roll up in such a way that the product is pressed down into the tube (even with the Assistant), and if you store the tube on its side or standing upright, some of the oils leak out and the balm dries out or changes texture. Overall though, I find these to be minor in the face of how awesome the deodorant balm is, and I keep restocking.
