I have had the 600 CBN for a few weeks now and have mostly used it on K390 and REX 121.
I was able to reprofile Rex 121 with a Hapstone 50 grit premium diamond and go directly to the 600 CBN without feeling like I was wasting time. I did not time it, but something like 5-6 minutes with the 600 CBN and the edge was ready for stropping. I checked with a loupe and there were no 50 grit marks left and a slight burr that stropped right out with Hapstone 7/5 CBN on a balsa strop. I am quite happy with it.
Only issue i had is that there was a single piece of grit that protruded from the surface. I could feel and hear it, but it took a few seconds with a cheap diamond plate to knock it off and the stone felt the same from end to end after that. I would expect something like that from a brand new stone, so I would not see that as a problem, just a part of running in a new stone.
It leaves a pleasant scratch pattern and on the REX 121 i did not notice any microchipping, and no excessive burr on the K390 either.
It seems to be a good compromise between a coarse edge and a highly polished edge, and for most users, this could be a perfectly good last stone before stropping for a daily user knive.
