Great quality and cute pockets. They really are made well. First like a 8-10. Shorts hit above the knee. My little guy loves them! He is a big guy. He wear 10-12 clothes a lot. These fit perfectly. If your 8 year old is on the smaller side, you may consider getting a youth small.
