2017 outback 2.5
Most people will go for the lifted version of this setup. But this is my daily driver with occasional camping and road trips. So the 1/4" setup is almost exact to stock height with the quality upgrade of the Bilsteins and Rallitek springs. If Im going to the trouble of swapping a part Im doing an upgrade, not a factory replacement. With that being said heres the pros and cons. Pro: way smoother ride. added confidence in the quality of the parts installed. This setup with michelin crossclimate 2s make me stick like glue in any weather. Cons: With the Rallitek springs my payload increased 200lbs. While this is a good thing, when the wife or mother needs bags of dirt for the garden I GET to carry even more. Conclusion: Do it once and do it right. If you arent building a serious off road machine you dont really need the lift for everyday driving. This took me 4hrs 15min total front and back with sway bar endlinks.

Just Do It!
Hesitant to spend the money but my 127,000 mile 2016 Outback Limited was chattering over the roads at any expansion joint, bump or undulation and neither my wife nor I wanted to be the one to have to drive it. Decided to keep the car for the long haul. Had OEM strut/springs replaced 30,000 miles ago by myself, they were toast. I had installed Bilstein B6 on my Ford Expedition and they transformed the truck, had many of the same chattering over bump symptoms, however, didn't want a stiff ride on the family car. Installed the preassembled package in a hurry for a trip to Colorado and back. Absolutely made the car a comfortable ride, huge change, should've done it 30,000 miles ago. There's no backend dip when we loaded ski equipment to the roof. Yes, there is a greater gap in the wheel wells but I don't care and it's not enough to make me want to break out a tape measure. Car has a 20mm RSW I put in 5 years ago and a front tower brace I installed thinking it would help the loose front feeling (it didn't). The Bilsteins & springs did the trick, just as the B6 did on my truck. When the current tires wear out, I'll pick a slightly softer tire to finish the ride improvement. Biggest thing is the car is a pleasure to drive again I look forward to driving it again, car tracks true with no scatter on bumps (my biggest peeve). I have to say that the B6 package IMO exposes the limits of the Subaru suspension design-it's not as comfy as my truck which has a more complicated 4 wheel Independent Suspension design. That said, this suspension package is as good as it gets for a Subaru. You should buy knowing you're getting the best there is!
