A Cinematic Library Full of Ghosts in the Machines...
Obscura feels less like a traditional sample pack and more like opening a door to an unsettling sonic world that’s alive with tension, texture, and atmosphere.
René G Boscio has carefully crafted an immensely calculated collection of sounds that are paradoxically both synthetic and artificial in tone while also feeling authentically organic, lively, and human in execution. There is a peculiar characteristic imparted by Boscio that makes it feel as though the samples within Obscura are living and breathing right alongside you.
This is a collection of sounds that leads to unexpected ideas and immediate inspiration. I found myself building entirely new sessions around loops, textures, or ambiences because they audibly suggested imagery, emotion, and an underlying story to explore, which is indicative of Boscio's deep understanding of narrative direction and pacing — two things that you never see or hear mentioned when it comes to audio sample content nowadays.
The production quality is fantastic throughout each loop, each drone, each texture, and each rhythmic asset while still preserving grit, darkness, an element of genuine unpredictability, and the slight imperfections that make the sounds within this collection so compelling.
If you are a producer, composer, or sound designer who is looking for darker sonic content to create evolving expanses of eerie suspense while also channeling real depth, then look no further. What you have been seeking is here, nestled in the darkness of Obscura.

Great work,René!
Great work,Renê!
I love the sounds! I have used parts of your sounds (mangled) in conjunction with other musical material - in developing a few cues for two films I am scoring. I plan to explore more of your sounds in the future.
