very cool but difficult

Awesome product. I use this to have dual output to my CRT and my computer for recording. I output on the CRT using component but unfortunately can’t use the Wii menu option to output 480p. On my pc 480p looks so good when recording but it messes up my TV. I might use it for recording special moments. I consider myself to be below average with soldering. I have no issues things like replacing batteries or splicing cables but anything with traces or test pads gets very difficult. As I upgraded my setup I improved my skills but I can see why the microscope was so heavily recommended. It’s possible to do with a magnifying glass but the hard part is scraping the contacts and getting them tinned. A multimeter ended up saving me. Extremely pleased with the end result and I’m very happy I was able to do this mod

Great kit!

Just finished installing this kit in my Wii by myself. Highly recommend getting a digital microscope to accomplish the soldering. Follow the instructions and videos linked to the Electron Shepherd site. Everything works great so now we're going through the old games again.

Great kit works very well. Maybe a few setup tips for first time users to get the best out of it on first startup might be handy. But Searching found some of the settings needed on Wii and Kit to get a great result. Install was straight forward well documented. Less so the pulling apart of and putting back together the Wii and the case mods for a stock install. Some soldering skills I would suggest are definitely required.
