Winston Air 2 Max Fly Rod

What a fantastic rod. I put a variety of lines on this rod from a light bonefish to a heavy jungle taper and it ate them all up. The 8'6" 9 wt doesn't feel "short", just faster and lighter. I think I like it even more than the 10wt

Power AND feel

Wow. I am so glad I got this rod. It’s a Winston so of course it’s beautiful. More importantly is the way it casts which is just delightful. I cast it next to a NRX+ 10 wt, which has been a favorite of mine. The feel with the Winston is much better than the Loomis. This in turn makes timing easier and that translates to distance. Using the same line/technique/effort I was casting 15’ farther with the Winston. Accuracy is great. This is a fantastic rod.

Stillwater Travel, Cuba and Winston Air Max 2

Recently did a Cuba Trip with Stillwater Travel on the Avalon II. Incredible trip. Boat stayed in the fishing area. 5 minutes out from boat you are on tarpon, jacks, permit, bones, snappper and other species. My Sage Maverick 10 wt broke on a large jack. Stillwater had a Winston Air Max 2 they let me fish. Great rod. Two weeks after returning I both the Air Max 2 9 wt and 10 wt. love them both. Stillwater is great. Winston Air Max 2 is great. Travis Lucas is the best; better than great.
