Although it did not remove all the buildup for my retainer (which was a year old), it took most of it out. This is after I used the long cycles multiple weeks in a row after keeping the retainer in the solution 15 minutes as recommended. On the other hand, the splint I have is newer and it has stayed clear with no buildup. It has been working as advertised so far.
