The Marin Unlined (Comp Toe)

Not as good as they used to be.

I’ve bought these for a few years now, the first version being the best. The second version wasn’t bad, but I didn’t really love the lace locks. This new version is way less comfortable. The materials have changed. The padding around the tongue and ankle are actually uncomfortable, and overall the shoe just isn’t as good as it once was. Maybe the new American made version is better and more like the original, but I can’t see shelling out the cash for them on a gamble. I run a company that retails various brands of workwear and wanted to bring in a line of brunt, I even reached out to see about selling them in my stores, but I’m honestly unsure if I would want to do that now.

First pair

So far so good. I was looking for something that will save my feet during the work day to accommodate my long runs after work. The insoles feel good so far, they fit great, probably just a little break in period but right out of the box they were pretty darn good.

Gen 2’s were better

Hate the new tongue, hate the new ankle cushioning. Hate the redesign of eyelets. The new eyelets dig into your ankles now. Backs of new eyelets are much bigger than they used to be. They are okay overall. After 4 years of brunt I think I’ll be trying red wing # 2476 instead. Gen 2 unlined comp toe were 5 star boots all day.
