Plinth For HOTBIN 200 Litre Compost Bin

New to hot composting (part 2)

This is the plinth for our composter, as with the main article it’s sturdy and well made. I’m not sure what the real benefit of the plinth is but for us it’s an extra bit of insulation from the cold Scottish ground and also to raise the composter a little higher.

All good so far

I started it up in November when it was very cold. Seems to be working well and getting hotter. Grass cuttings really help mixed with cardboard.

Hot bin

Initially I phoned to talk about exactly how to fill my new Hotbin. I then followed the instructions given on the phone and in the leaflet. The Hot bin was a little warm inside although no increase in the thermometer temperature, but since then it has been cold. So overall very disappointed.
