Sizing off

I originally purchased an XL and the jacket was way too big. I exchanged it for a L (exchange process very easy) but the L was skin tight. My husband could barely get it on. Seems like the sizing was all wrong. Maybe the XL was a XXL and got tagged wrong? Nevertheless the return process was easy.
