Curved Floating Shelf

We were actually quite disappointed with our shelves when they arrived. Purely from the perspective that it became very obvious this was not an ideal DIY process to instal. Firstly Drilling a 14mm hole into the side of the shelf is risky and not to be done by someone who is unskilled and secondly, most people would not have a 14mm drill bit as this is an uncommon size. Also drilling into a stud at the depth recommended has a couple of issues, one you are running the risk of drilling into services like electrical and plumbing, also a whole that size at that depth breaches the integrity of the stud. Just supplying two pieces of threaded rod isn’t a DIY system and we believe you should re-look at the installation process, a rod should be welded to a plate which can span over several studs depending on the shelf size. Which is what we ended up doing. Also the finish of the timber was quite rough and felt like needed a sand and another quote. For the price we paid, we felt cheated.
