It certainly helps me understand my autistic 7 year old grandson when he cannot use his words during an "episode." But, my daughter said the therapist wants him to not be dependent on the board for communication. She wants him to "use his words," and be able to do so when he is having a melt down or episode. I think it helped during the episode tho. I distracted him with the sound board, and his episode started to quiet down.

My child loves this. It isn't pricey or complex like P2Go, it's great to have for multiple locations or travel; or someplace an iPad could get damaged.
