Clay - Classic Biothane Dog Collar

Love the color and quality!

I ordered a biothane leash and collar for my 11lb. miniature dachshund Andy. As promised, the colors are lovely (Clay looks even better in person than pictures), the biothane is super easy to clean, and everything seems well-made. However, I wouldn't recommend the leash or collar for small breed dogs especially dachshunds or other low riders. While at first I thought it was really nice that the owner thought to accommodate all sizes by offering different collar lengths, the materials are just too large and heavy to seem comfortable or proportional on a little dog. Regardless of her collar tightness, the heavy brass clip on the leash and solid D-ring on her collar, inevitably swing to the front, tripping her with each step, and while the leash works a little better with a harness, it still seems to unnecessarily weigh her down especially on longer walks and hikes. The collar is a bit better, and I will probably keep using it since I’ve already purchased a slide on tag for it, but the hardware is still extremely chunky and the biothane seems awkwardly thick around her little neck. Maybe these products would work better for a slightly larger and much stockier breed like a Frenchie or Corgi, but for your Chihuahuas, Doxies, Italian Greyhounds, Poms, Miniature Poodles, Yorkies, and the like, they just don't make sense. It's no fault of the company, but as beautiful as this stuff looks on the big dogs, it doesn't scale down very well and I would recommend spending your money elsewhere for your little one (especially given the cost and return policy).
