The book is great (5 stars). But the tariff charge on a book supposedly published in NYC was not addressed upon ordering, and I had no knowledge that the book would be subject to the tariff. Their reply: "Dear William, Thank you for reaching out, and I completely understand your frustration regarding the unexpected $40 tariff charge. Unfortunately, the United States has recently implemented new import tariffs that apply to certain categories of goods arriving from abroad. These charges are assessed directly by U.S. customs, and they can vary from order to order — some customers are charged, while others are not, depending on how customs classifies the shipment at the time of entry. Because these tariffs are government-imposed, we unfortunately do not have any control over them. Our warehouse is located in Europe, and all shipments to the U.S. are subject to customs procedures. We always aim to provide a smooth experience, but customs duties are outside our authority to predict or influence.
