Great Sweater. Fits true to size; different from the Comp Jacket

First off let me say I love this sweater. It fits well, looks great, and is really warm and comfortable. My wife says it’s the best thing I’ve bought in the last 10 years. You can’t get much higher praise than that. Getting the right size was a little tricky. I typically wear a Large in outerwear. However, I have a couple of the Birdwell Racing Jackets and for me they run small so with those I wear an XL - not typical. I wanted to compare the sweater measurements to the jackets that I know fit, and the Birdwell site bafflingly and inexplicably uses different measurement systems for the two items. Since I wasn’t comfortable trying to do the conversions myself, I wrote customer service, explained my confusion, and asked them how the sweater fits compared to the jacket. Although I got a response fairly quickly, the answer seemed very automatic and rote saying that if I wear an XL in the jacket, I should get an XL in the sweater. Since I felt the representative didn’t thoughtfully answer the question and I wasn’t confident in the response, I decided not to buy it. Over a month went by and I kept getting ads for it though and I finally decided to take the risk. Going with my gut, I went against the rep’s recommendation and ordered a Large. The Large fits perfectly. Amazingly well, in fact. So if you normally wear a Large, get a Large. Other than that bit of uncertainty the order went smoothly and I’m very happy with the sweater!

I bought it for a gift so I can't comment on anything more than how nice it felt as I wrapped it. I look forward to Christmas day. 😊 I just wish there was a gift bag option.
