I finally have daylight in my studio
I purchased the T8 5000k LED bulbs for my art studio. I have had “just the right florescent bulbs” in my studio for nearly twenty years. I installed 4 of my new LED bulbs just to see if there was a difference. Immediately I knew I have been working with a handicap! Without hesitation I replaced the remaining 20 bulbs. I finally have midday light in my studio. It’s just the right balance of light and color for my artwork. Not too orange and certainly not too blue. And the color shift of my paintings, when hung within a typical home setting is not perceptible. Technology has finally met the needs of the studio artist.

Beautiful, full spectrum light in the studio!
I was needing to replace some of my old, full spectrum fluorescent bulbs in my studio, but found out that the company that I had previously purchased from no longer made them. That’s when my research began into what bulbs were available for my T8 fixtures that would meet the specific criteria that I was looking for as an artist. As a professional portrait painter, having a dependable light source from which you can judge accurate colors is extremely important. While working under fluorescent bulbs for the last eight years, I enjoyed the full spectrum, soft, diffused light that my previous bulbs had provided, but decided to look at LED options for their replacement. I ordered a few of the NorthLux 95 CRI T8 6500k LED Tube lights for Art & Studio to see how they would compare next to my old fluorescent bulbs. After trying them out for a couple of months, I ended up replacing all of the lights in my studio with these Waveform bulbs. My main concerns were how soft or diffused the LED lights would be compared to my fluorescent bulbs and also whether or not they would allow me to see the true colors that I was mixing on my palette. The frosted cover that Waveform puts on their T8 LED bulbs creates a nice, soft, diffused light which mimics daylight. The high 95 CRI of the bulbs produces amazing color accuracy from which I can confidently mix and judge colors by. In addition, there was no need to rewire my current fixtures in order for the LED bulbs to work. Waveform has incorporated technology into their T8 bulbs which allows a user to simply insert the new bulb into the old fixture without any problems or rewiring. If you’re an artist who is looking for a beautiful, full spectrum bulb to work under in your studio which mimics North light, I would highly suggest these bulbs. I’ve attached a few photos of some of the color charts that are in my studio in order to give you a better idea of the color clarity that can be seen under these bulbs.

Excellent Lighting
I was looking for an LED bulb with high CRI and daylight color temperature that would drop into my existing fluorescent fixtures. They have worked well so far. I did bypass the existing ballasts in the fixtures, so minor electrical wiring experience is a plus if using these in T12 fixtures.
