They work. They come painted green so I repainted them bright orange so I wouldn't loose them. First time I used them was winter camping near Joshua Tree and I ended up bending one stake by using too big of a hammer. It was fairly windy for about half of the 9 days I camped and they held everything down without issues. I might try a different style stake in the future.
