I think the stretch jorts run a size lower. Typically a large in shorts but couldn't pull past my thighs. Xl fits great (tight, but i think thats the point). If you want them loose, go 2 sizes up. I own 3 pairs of these and theyre my favorite shorts (for riding or anything else)
