I suppose it depends on what you're drilling into but these are sold as the fastener for the support posts which are relatively thick gauge steel. Yeah, they barely make a dent in that. You have to make a good sized pilot hole first. Certainly not the end of the world and they do cut their own thread but for their marketed use, the experience is not what I expected.
