I bought this as a gift - so not yet worn.Very impressed by the quality and ruggedness of the gilet.Hopefully my nephew will love it !

The Gilet That Says ‘I AM the Countryside‘

I bought the Jack Pyke Countryman Chunky Gilet because I thought it would make me look like a rugged outdoorsman—someone who knows how to track pheasants, chop logs, and possibly deliver a lecture on soil types. Instead, it made me look like a walking duvet with delusions of grandeur… and I couldn’t be happier. The material is so padded I’m convinced I could fall off a quad bike and bounce straight back onto it. It’s like wearing a hug from a particularly affectionate sofa. The pockets are large enough to hold everything from cartridges to a suspiciously heavy sandwich, and possibly even a small terrier if you’re desperate. The “chunky” part of the name isn’t a warning, it’s a promise. When I put it on, I instantly gained the torso silhouette of a man who eats three breakfasts before noon. Yet somehow, I felt invincible—like the Michelin Man’s countryside cousin who raises pheasants and tells foxes to “jog on.” Would I wear it to a wedding? No. Would I wear it to wrestle a rogue badger or buy a pint of milk in the village shop? Absolutely. This gilet says: “I don’t just live in the country. I AM the country.” 10/10. Would recommend to anyone who wants to stay warm, look vaguely agricultural, and terrify city folk on a weekend away.
