The current batch that expires JUL 2828 is a five star. The earlier batches the cat would not eat. She is a 14 YO feral with pancreas problems. She has trouble keeping food down, and it seems like anything greasy she avoids. This batch of Purebites is dry compared to earlier batches which feel greasy in the fingers. It kind of has the feel of cheese puffs as your crushing it. It easily crushes to a powder with body. There are sometimes sharp bones, but since I crush it I pick them out if I see them. Not to worry, she picks them out herself if I miss them. This is one of two foods she will eat, so it tastes good to her. It has a light, fresh smell, not fishy, not acrid like batches she won't eat. She is mainly a fish eater and only eats dry food. I found the only way that she would eat freeze dried raw pellets of any brand is to crush them to powder. If they are moist ones she won't eat them. It took her difficulty passing it for her to realize she needed to drink more water which she does. Cats are pretty smart if you give them a chance to figure it out. So this is a five star as long as it doesn't turn greasy with an acrid smell.
