This mount fits perfectly on my 2012 Ram and does not interfere with the hood closing. Literally installs in just minutes!!!! Using with FireRing coax (from Right Channel) and a 4 foot Firestik antenna. Perfect setup!

Quality hood mount for my diesel Ram

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this mount when I got it. It was contoured correctly for the hood, and the metal was quality stainless, not the cheap somewhat magnetic stuff you get from knockoffs. It seems sufficiently thick and strong to handle the antenna, and the mounting surface was much wider than I expected it to be, which really helps with the strength. It also comes with protective tape preinstalled on the mount to keep it from scratching your paint, which is a nice touch. I added two screw holes to the channel so I could screw it down closer to the mounting hole for added rigidity. There was plenty of metal for me to add the holes without compromising strength, if you're interested in doing the same. The mount works just fine without the extra screws, if you don't want to drill. I tried it both ways and it didn't seem to move any significant amount without the added fasteners. I just tend to error on the side of caution. You'll need a terminal or ring mount cable, there isn't enough space underneath for a standard pl-259. But with the low-profile connector, it really does look sharp. This is by far my favorite place to mount on the new dodges - because it doesn't require any modification that will ruin resale value and it leaves your bed free for tie-downs, camper-shells, or whatever junk you need to haul that could interfere with your antenna.
