The old anode rod was incredibly encrusted and it had only been less than two years. Unfortunately I had already gotten rid of it before I got your survey so couldn't send a pic. Bought two this time and I'll make sure I change it every year.
This is the best thing I have done as my house water heater takes forever to reach my kitchen and this is all but instantaneous.
