Natural Nightstand

Well built piece of furniture, but very short

I got this nightstand after I had already purchased the matching dresser. I like the dresser very much and decided the nightstand would complement it and my bamboo platform bed nicely. So I went ahead and ordered it. It's a nice, solid, heavy piece of furniture. It is obviously solid wood except for the few pieces that are indicated as manufactured wood on the website. The drawers glide open and closed smoothly, and it got here incredibly quickly compared to the dresser. But it is tiny. Honestly, I've seen a lot of nightstands. I've never seen one quite as short as this thing. When I saw it sitting on my porch my immediate thought was, "that can't possibly be it! It's way too small." It was actually smaller than the box my microwave oven came in! I brought it in, unpackaged it, and set it up next to my bed. And yes, it is SHORT. A good couple of feet shorter than the top of my headboard, and several inches shorter than the top of my mattress. It looks almost comical standing there next to my queen size platform bed. I'll take the responsibility for that. The measurements are right there on the website, and I could have and should have actually taken a tape measure to see how the nightstand would fit in with the other furniture in the room before I ordered it. But honestly, this thing looks like it is designed for a child's bedroom rather than an adult's. I expect I'll get used to it in time. It really is a good looking piece. Just not quite what I was expecting given the bulk and size of the dresser that I had previously received. I'd really encourage the manufacturers to redesign this and make it available in a slightly taller size. Maybe make a three drawer version available for those who want the extra height. I fully understand the goal of being ecosustainable and not wanting to use more material than is absolutely necessary. But really, for comfortable use, more material is necessary.
