Boy did I think my job was bad? I would go to the factory, everyday, make the same part for a vacuum cleaner 1,000’s of times. If I did a bad job, I would have the part thrown at me while I was being belittled. It was all worth it, because we had free hot dogs at lunch! Retail is the worst, no hot dogs. I keep my Joyless career person at my machine, so I’m reminded how much worse it could be. She fell in the bucket of oily parts a few times, but she still makes me feel better about myself when I have to dig her out and clean her up. Thanks Obvious Plant! You sure have pointed out my negativity and helped me be more empatetic.
