Civolution is the real deal
Is this a civ-builder? I dunno, it's hard to replicate in a board game what civ-builders can do on a PC. What I do know is that Civolution is a great game. I've played it now about eight times. Six against the automa and twice against a gaming buddy. There's alot to the game, the world map is variable and full of things to explore and do. The modules are tech tree-like in how they can be improved. The dice rolling mechanism is not a favorite of mine but Feld puts in the needed mitigation tools to make that mechanism palatable. The graphic design is also very clear easy to learn. Civolution is a complex game and the manual, at 40+ pages, is alot to take in. Weighing the pluses and minuses, I think that Civolution is a great game (5 star here and 9/10 on BGG).
