Comfortable, but not warm

I wore the mittens for 45 min. in 38degree weather and found that my hands stayed no warmer than with much cheaper mittens. Then, I tried warming my hands prior to wearing the mittens, but got yhe same results. Part of the problem is probably my hands - they are usually somewhat cold, even indoors. Not sure what to try next. Ourland was quickly responsive and cooperative in allowiing me to return the mittens for a full refund.
