Legs Too Short and Missing Ankle Zips

I presently have several pair of older Pearl Izumi bike pants (size L) that fit me well but need to be replaced. The older pairs have ankle zips. This new pair does not have ankle zips and the legs are at least an inch too short leaving me disappointed. I like ankle zips to ease putting on and removing socks. Stretching the ankle part of the new pants up over my calf for sock concerns seems to overstretch the material and lead to a shorter life expectancy. I don't want to put my socks on before the pants or remove the pants to change socks. Wearing socks over the pants ankles is considered rather dorky around here. And the legs are too short too. I will search elsewhere for bike pants that fit me and are designed for practical use.
