Solved jammed lock but still has the underlying problem

The twin barrels mean I now have one key for boot and door. Great. But the reason in needed it was because the original door lock jammed with the key in the horizontal position when locked. I not that the instructions say do not remove key in horizontal position. Fine but why does it allow it do do so especially in the open position. Also not that its behaviour is inconsistent in the unlocking action.
