Dark, haunting, and exactly what I was looking for

I loved this book. It's dark, and quite gory—which isn't what draws me to horror, but it sure comes with the territory, and very scary. And it's haunting, which is what I do come to the horror genre for. I enjoyed the way the story was broken up into sub-stories, and there was more than one twist I didn't see coming despite some well-executed foreshadowing. It has all the hallmarks of what I consider to be great storytelling. I expect I'll be thinking about this book for a while, and will definitely buy other books by this author.
