Nice bonus to complying to the Rid mandate is you get all the gps telemetry data on your radio. This gives ground speed, gps altitude and coordinates. If you turn on data logging, this can be handy information especially if your model goes down, you'll know the coordinates. It runs fine off a Smart Port slot on your RX. Once it's installed you don't have to think about it anymore. One thing to note, gps speed is only accurate when the plane is flying level to the ground. If you want to know accurate speed info in climbs and other maneuvers, you will need an airspeed sensor. Flying a scale helicopter this is not necessary as most of my flying is relatively level. I just fly in my local parks like normal. One thing to note. I could not figure out how to get the FAA registration number from the device the way FRsky recommended to register the product on the FAA Drone Zone website. What I did was download the "drone scanner" app for the App Store, plug in the device and then read the number from the app. Great friendly staff to work with. I would absolutely do business with them again.
