We needed to add a shoulder belt to the back bench seat of our Vanagon so our grandson could ride in it while sitting in his booster chair. The new shoulder belt was well designed and is sure to be a it with our grandson.

I feel much more confident shuttling the kiddo around in a 40 year old van with a modern seat belt. Easy install and nice finish when paired with the cabinet finishing kit.

The seat belts were straightforward to install, and the materials and overall build quality appear to be good. They seem compatible with booster seats where a locking mechanism is not required. However, for use with child restraint systems, these belts are not adequate. The retractor does not function as an automatic locking retractor (ALR). Without a locking mechanism when fully extended, it is not possible to achieve a secure installation of a car seat. Additionally, the buckle stalk (female end) is too long. This causes the latch plate to sit too high—positioned in the middle of the back of the car seat—preventing proper tensioning and secure positioning. As a result, the car seat cannot be tightened sufficiently or held firmly in place. In comparison, the original lap belts provided a more secure installation due to their shorter length and more stable geometry. Based on these limitations, I would not recommend these seat belts for use with child safety seats, as they do not allow for a proper or safe installation.
