You dont need much!

My 18 month old had a great time fingerpainting for the first time. The paint was easy to mix and apply. I advise starting very thin as it thickens as it dries. If you put it on too thick it will crumble off when its completely dry. I love that it's safe to eat, which of course my toddler did sample it, but it wasn't yummy so she kept on painting! The orange paint will stain, so beware of that.
