Using it around my water fountain because we have some bug issues in my complex and it keeps them out of the water fountain if you fill it with water. I thought it was a big bigger for some reason but it still works great for its purpose. If used for food catching for messy cats i can definitely say it would work really well. The silicon does make it really easy to clean and it stays pretty well on my hard floor and carpets equally
