Happy to see The Foundation series in fine press edition! Beautiful edition with several notable features and some faults. This book review starts out badly but read on, it does get much much better! Unfortunately, we start with the "unboxing" experience - not! Felt and looked like something I ordered from eBay. The suede-lined solander box is attractive in appearance, with a brass medallion that is a stunningly beautiful addition. Sadly, the cover joints are loose (they actually depress when one grabs the box) and make a creaking noise. When opened you are met with the smell of glue and/or ink, similar to that I experienced with the last Folio DLE I bought - two years ago! The book covers are composed of a very attractive metallic, marbleized cloth. The Bradel binding is superb, tightly fit and, as designed, allows the book to be fully opened with ease. The mould-made paper and letterpress printing are first class and a tactile delight. The Greg Manchess illustrations are worthy of this classic work Overall, the book is of great value and appreciated, some improvement in the solander need be made.

This Book Is Gorgeous

Foundation is a very special book for me and I was so excited to hear about this special treatment given to the first-ever Hugo winner for Best Series! It was even more exciting that the Foreword was to be written by Brandon Sanderson, an author for whom I have great admiration. When I received my copy, it was like recapturing a moment of childhood joy. Each of the big details of the Deluxe Edition, from the inset brass medallion on the spine to the thick yet soft paper makes me feel like I’m holding something truly special. I treasure this wonderful book and always will. I am excited to share it with my children when they are older and can appreciate it and one day pass it down to them as a way of preserving the wonder of engaging in this amazing book like Hari Seldon emerging from the vault.

Simply superb!

This book is beautifully designed through and through. The bronze medallion inset on the spine of the sturdy solander box, the enclosure covered by a luxurious cloth with a metallic sheen. The gorgeous marbled bords, no two the same. The disintegrating "Foundation" on the title page and the excellent choice of typefaces in the text. The amazing double-page spreads and portraits by Greg Manchess. - The Deluxe edition of Foundation by Conversation Tree Press is an absolute highlight for me and I cannot begin to imagine how splendid the three volumes will look lined up, once the trilogy is complete!
